WaterWays

World Water Day Belize

In celebration of World Water Day 2025, community members all across Belize—from inland Succutz to coastal Belize city—came together in collaboration with WaterWays to conduct a water testing exercise along the Belize River Watershed. This initiative included teachers and students from Galen University, Mopan Technical High School, Mount Carmel High School, Pallotti High School, Anglican Cathedral College, Belize Rural High School, in addition to NGO members from Belize Karst Habitat Conservation, The Community Baboon Sanctuary, and Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation. The main goal of this exercise was to promote environmental monitoring through practical learning about water quality, importance, and conservation. Each school and NGO received supplies to test key physical, chemical, and biological parameters in nearby water bodies that make up the Belize River watershed. All participants were able to expand their knowledge and expertise on water management and awareness in their communities by identifying key problem areas through their testing.
