Nature by the Pint: 4/16

Nature by the Pint closes out the 2025 season! Last but not least was a compelling talk by Auburn PhD student Savanna Wooten. With an introduction into the discipline of paleolimnology, Wooten’s charm made an intimidating field of study approachable for us in the audience. Using sediment cores to reconstruct lake use for both ancient and modern urbanization, Wooten’s fieldwork in Florida and Mexico illuminates a vital conversation about human development and its impact. By measuring the levels of substances like cyanobacteria and mercury, science tells us a very human story- one that encourages healthier management of our natural resources. What a powerful note to end our series on!
